The Kuehne + Nagel Group increased its profitability during 2015 despite market instabilities. The information is on Kuehne + Nagel´s last annual report, which also commemorates the German company’s 125° anniversary.
The net turnover decreased to 16,731 million Swiss Franc (CHF), which represented a 4.4% percent compared to last year. The earnings for the year increased leading to a new record result: 5.4 percent and reached close to CHF 679 million.
At a regional level, Asia-Pacific regions remained stable in net turnover, while the Americas reported increases of 9.2 percent. The EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) experimented a decrease of 9.6 percent mainly due to negative currency translation impacts.
In the Americas, gross profit increased 14 per cent and Asia-Pacific reported up 10.9 percent, whereas the EMEA region reported a decrease of 5.percent.
In South America, countries such as Chile, Colombia and Central America exceeded the expectation despite the unstable political and economic situation and currency dislocations in several countries
The US achieved excellent results according to the company, raising earnings in all business units.
Karl Gernandt, Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International AG said, “We will most likely have to cope with several political and economic issues and again be faced with frequent changes. This calls for situational leadership. We are also relying on the flexibility and commitment of our employees worldwide. They helped to achieve the good result in 2015 and will enable us to continue the positive company development in 2016 as well – and this gives me a strong sense of optimism”.
